Updated: Crackdown Title Update - Save Game Issue Fixed

Hey guys - here is the latest, official info:

"Microsoft and Realtime Worlds have identified and solved the “Crackdown” issues that gamers had been experiencing with erased saved games. The problem stemmed from a previously released Title Update – not the Crackdown DLC packages.  Microsoft has provided a solution through a new Title Update that addresses the situation.  The update will download automatically when players log on to Xbox LIVE and insert the Crackdown disc.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused Crackdown."

You might want to re-sticky this!  It's also been posted (3 times, actually) at the Xbox Crackdown forum.

Good work on a quick fix, guys!

Do we download the new content before or after the numbered steps?

Thanks for this. Could you maybe explain exactly what it is thats causing the problem? This way, those of us who have already gone too far to use this workaround, but haven't had our saves erased yet, can avoid accidentally running into the issue.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

    Still a little unclear...

Do we need to quit and reboot the game every time we play or just the first time?

If I have already played single-player since downloading the updates and selected 'quit' from the menu, am I now safe to play co-op?  The console has been powered off since I last played.

    Thanks.

That's great that you're addressing the issue so quickly.  What I want to know is what sort of help or compensation to those of us who already lost our saves get?  I realize you all work hard and are extremely sorry for the mistake, but I paid for this faulty product and I expect more than a "sorry".  I would at the very least expect a 800 ms pts. refund for the broken content.

I was wondering the same thing.  I lost all my content too before all this stuff happened.  I had just 3 Green Orbs to go and 10 Blues to go and I only had 1 street race left.  Man am I disappointed with this.

It doesn't matter.  The hiccup is related to the title update, not the DLC.  Just follow the above instructions when you get pinged the title update.  The key is to save your game in a single player game right after you get the title update.

Hate to sound like a noob but could we get those steps with a little more detail  i havnt had a chance to download the new content yet.  And I want to make sure I do everything right so I dont lose my agent stats.

    Thanks

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

So, to be clear, you're safe as long as you've played a single player campaign game, and saved in said campaign game, before ever entering co-op? Do gangs resurrected or not matter?

Unofficially, what I would do is:

    1. Put Crackdown in your disc drive and start it up.

    2. It will tell you that there is an update.  Get it, then after it finishes downloading it will send you back to the menu (after the logo screens, legal crap, sign-in, loading of saved game, etc pass).

    3. Then enter "Campaign".  Play SOLO.  Then get into the game (meaning literally into the city or agency garage or wherever, bascially just on the other side of the supply points)

    4.  Once you do that, you can then just pause the game, select QUIT and it will save your game.

From there you'll be good to go.

Go ahead and download the DLC, play online, whatever.  You should be good to go.  The main issue seems to be around when folks download the TU and then hop right online.  If they quit an online session without doing the above some people are seeing their save game get reset.  We're investigating why that is right now.  I'm sure we'll be up all night for several nights.  Hang in there why we try to get this sorted, but again if you do the above first this is a non-issue.

    Hope this helps.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

    Okay, question here though:

I downloaded the Title Update and then, once it had applied and the game started, I went into the game and got the Free-For-All pack as well as the pack you pay for. Both were applied, and the game restarted with the content packs enabled. I then went in and played my regular single player campaign for about 20 minutes before saving and quiting normally... never went in to co-op at all.

Am I still okay? The official explanation makes it sound like you have to go into single player and save RIGHT after installing the Title Update. Is it still alright the way I (and I'm assuming many others might have) did it?

Thanks in advance. And thanks for the official explanation.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

    one more quick question.

when I got home from work, I dl'd the content without the game in my tray while surfing the marketplace.

do I need to make sure to do the steps you mentioned even though I was never prompted with the disc?  same rules apply? (save a quick solo game without dying)

EDIT: and is it the pay pack or the free pack or either?
