Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Just an update from my previous post , somehow I managed to get my little brothers' save data back.

After I posted in my previous post that my little brother lost all his data after the update ( But i managed to keep my data after the update ) , I decided to download the new content too.

I don't understand it but after I downloaded the new content , my little brothers' data was restored .....

I find it very strange ......... usually when i think data is lost .... data is lost for good ......  i don't know how i got it back , but i'm glad ...... it must not have been showing up for some reason .....

basically this is my experience explained simply :

    1. I downloaded the game update with my profile and followed the official steps to trouble free gaming , and it was sucessful for my profile. My game save didn't lose any stats/progress data.

    2. I logged my account out , rebooted , logged in my little brothers' account and started up crackdown.

    3. I started my little brothers' single player mode , loading the game save data from his profile , his stats/progress were all reset to zero ...... ( he was half way through the missions before this )

    4. I tried many times to load his game save with his profile , rebooting a few times too , but no hope ...... his game save still had fresh stats.

    5. It seemed like my game save was safe , but his was ruined ..... oh well ...... I posted some dissapointed response on topics like this on Xbox and crackdown forums ... lol ..

    6. After the forums , I decided to download the new content ( I only applied the update thus far ) , so at least if my brother has to start again , he can start again with all the brand new content .... lol ....

    7. I downloaded the new content .... tested it on my profile/ game save ..... everything seemed fine ....... but the next bit was the strange bit ....

    8. I tested the new content on my little brothers' profile and for some reason the game save that I thought had been wiped clean seemed to have been restored ?!?!? A miracle !!!
I don't know where the information for his game save had been hiding after i applied the update ....... but it seemed to have shown it's face again after i applied the downloadable content ......

    9. I don't know how this happened , but i'm pleased it did ....  now he's happily playing the new content with his old data , which i previously thought had been wiped clean a few of hours ago ......

    10. I hope it stays this way ...... who knows what will happen next update ....

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

    What about my scenario?

I got the title update and the first thing I did was went into Keys to the City mode (solo). After that I did not touch any other modes and exited the game. So if I go in now and follow these steps will I get the work around as well since there are no saves in KTTC?

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

These steps didnt's work for me I followed them precicly and now im kinda po'd did you guys even test the dlc by downloading it off xbox live before you gave to the public or did you expect it to work? Now I will have to go and find 400 and some orbs again I think I needed like 30. Maybe in about 3-6 months there will be a new update fixing this since it seems to take that long.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

I have a question - if any of you can answer that would be great.

In the steps, it says to get the update, go into singleplayer, quit, and then download the content.

I downloaded the content first, got the update, and have been playing singleplayer ever since in fear of co-op deleting my save.  Can I still play co-op now even if I got the download before I got the update?  Or should I wait for the patch?

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

The Title Update NOT the DLC caused the glitch.  If you don't have the DLC because you are worrying about it, don't worry.  The DLC works fine.  If you aren't playing co-op out of fear, the co-op works fine too.  Let's make things a little less complicated about the workaround...

Once you have the Title Update downloaded whether or not you have the DLC doesn't matter.  PLAY a SOLO game.  SAVE your game.  Now, you should be fine.  Play as much solo OR co-op as you want.  The two most important steps to the workaround are this

    1. After getting the update, play SOLO.
    2. Save your SOLO game (don't turn off the xbox or just quit out to the dashboard... save and quit to the main menu of Crackdown).

The problem happens if you play co-op first.  As long as you play a solo game first so that your stats and everything are saved, you are fine.  So just make sure to play solo and SAVE once before playing co-op.  After you've done this, the glitch shouldn't affect you.

Hope this clears up a lot of repeat questions.  If I'm in any way wrong about this, Agent G or another Dev, please correct me.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

I work as a software developer (for business applications) and while I don't have all the details of why this problem happened, I do know that this is a result of poor QA processes by the company developing the software.  What I also know is that when things like this happen in the software world, users need to be alerted ASAP, by whatever means (could we get a email?).  I am appalled by the fact that I had to search by myselft to find out why my save game (and many hours of my life) are gone.  The fact that users should "play through again, because the content has changed" is ridiculous.  This is what I call the equivilant of losing customers data and then saying.....oh sorry...nothing we can do.  In my line of work that resulting in termination.  I love the Crackdown game, but I will not play through again, and I will spread the word to all that I know about the way this has been handled by this software company.  Thanks.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Ya, I shouldn't have to explain exactly what happened to my system because this glitch isnt supposed to exist. I lost all my agent progress like the others. I had a little more than a solid 20 hours on the game. Now my questions are: Am I ever gonna buy one of your games again? Am I ever gonna get my stats back? Am I ever gonna stop my extreme lothing of Crackdown?

How was I supposed to know about this? I should have received a notice, a warning, something! It's not like everybody is going to check online before updating their consoles.

This is my specific siuation, which doen't match with your extremely specific and rare situation that happens to render your stats safe.

I had updated my console. I then downloaded the free-for-all pack. I played the keys to the city mode until I got bored and I quit the game. The next day (today), I was bored of playing alone so I joined another player in a coop game. I managed to kill a boss and shortly after that the game disconnected and saved. I got sent to the main menu. I resumed my normal campaign mode to find out that I had no more abilities!

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

So, while I appreciate the "how to avoid this", I already downloaded everything and played a CO-OP game first, so it appeared as if all was lost in SINGLE PLAYER.  I also HOSTED a CO-OP game and again, abilities, etc, lost... BUT, if i JOIN my brother's game who did play single player first I have all my abilities in HIS COOP game.... so its not lost its just somehow my stats work only when i JOIN A COOP game, but i am reset in SINGLE or HOST COOP.... I have not yet SAVED over anything in single....   Any hope I can get stuff back?  I can just play in my brothers coop and try to find my ONE REMAINING agility orb - you can see my frustration - but would love to do some combination of saving that got my guy back....

Anyway, i had not seen anyone say that their character is fine in a Join Coop situation and wanted to point it out if it helped in troubleshooting..

    help

with over 900,000 copies sold, this wont affect RTW for THIS game. however, we will definately be much more cautious when getting their next DLC, and it'll negatively affect their future projects for some gamers (myself excluded).

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Jules that is exactly what happened to me too. I did the same process. But before I even knew about this glitch I was like "hey cool the getting busy bonus pack is awesome" so I purchased it and started up a campaign to find my character scrawny and at the start again "this is what I paid for" I said to myself.

I'm pretty mad about this and losing my 478 agi orbs, 150 hidden orbs, maxed out stats and countless hours. Honestly the smart thing for RTW to do now is refund the points for the "getting busy" pack to everyone who bought it, and afterwards make this pack free to the rest of the community, not for the simple fact of getting something free out of this whole ordeal but for the fact that if they want at least some credibility back than they better do some damage control. I don't even care what caused the glitch, they need to get some credibility back. I already understand I won't be getting my save back and honestly I won't be playing this game again for awhile, I don't have the urge to search for everything again, too irratated to play it for a month or so. But at least compensate, as a company that has no history, this isn't going to look good. Thats my rant and my thoughts.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Bunch of whiny babies. Heres my impression of a majority of you. "WWWWWAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Typing in caps does not help your case and neither does complaining about a game you were going to keep playing anyways with the new DLC. Who cares about the stupid orbs if you already got the achievements to go along with them and if you haven't, be mature and move on. Roll with the punches, stop acting like this is some debilitating disease that keeps you from enjoying yourself. All I am hearing from the lot of you who got their game saves lost is that you want some sort of compensation for content that was a luxury. So what if you have to start over again, I am almost done with the game AGAIN. I have 3 bosses to go. Seriously, I don't care if you've worked as a software developer before, I worked in Tech Support at a game company and I can tell you theres no way to get your things back. Its not the end of your world, it just means playing a game you enjoy a bit longer and since games are recreational, look on the bright side of things. We are all human, people make mistakes and thats what occured here. Nobody needs to get fired, I don't care what your own silly experience has been at another game company. Human error is natural and not unforgivable. GROW UP people.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

As of right now I see both sides of this, like yah it was only a saved file but still a lot of gamers saved file got deleted. So RTW as a company with very little history needs to redeem themselves by offering back to the community by making the getting busy content free, it's pretty simple really. I love the game and I love the content. And yes we all know you can go through the game very easily, If I wanted I could go through that game in a couple hours, my first time around I beat the last boss drunk, it's no big deal. The big deal is I was one race away from getting the achievement and I don't want to do those over again, and about 20 agi orbs away from completion and I really don't want to find all those over again, too tedious for me.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Thanks a lot, I was at about 470 agility orbs and had only one boss left with my skills maxed out, but now it's totally reset.  By the way, DO NOT follow the instructions posted by Agent G if the game isn't loading your save- it will overwrite your save with a clean save.  I have a support request in to get my points refunded, as I have little interest in replaying the game.

xerxes you think that was bad i was at 499 agility and all my stats maxed out and all the races done. i had 5 stunt markers left and now im back to square one. i feel it should have been posted on xbox website or the very least on the front page of this website and not in some forum. bad job on letting everyone know.
