Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
hedgehog:It should be pointed out based on the comments
here that the paid content wasn't the offending item: the free game
update was.
Free DLC people are just as exposed to the problem
as people who purchased premium content. I fail to see how I "deserve"
my 800 points back. Save the fained outrage for something a touch more
critical than a $7 game mod perhaps. Your save file isn't curing
cancer.
Don't downplay legitmate complaints by comparing them to cancer.
It's just an absurd statement on your part. Regardless of whether
it was the free or paid content, those of us who lost our save data
should have some sort of compensation and have more than a right to
voice our complaints about the situation. If you order a meal at
a restuarant and it's served to you with a bunch of curly hairs in it,
you don't say to yourself, "maybe I should withhold my complaints here
and save them for a better cause like stopping global warming."
No, you complain about the hairs and a quality restuarant not only
fixes the problem with a new meal, but compensates you in some
way. I have faith that rtw will act in a similar manner.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
Oh please, all your whining is being heard by the wrong people, namely us. If you are this upset about losing your game save, then send Realtime Worlds an email and be mature and adult about the correspondence. I understand that you are frustrated but honestly, if you think you are owed something you are not. You played the game at your own risk, downloaded the content at your own risk and now you have to deal with the ramifications of a mistake like a mature adult. These things happen to everyone, sometimes to the best of us okay? It does suck to be in your position but the best thing you can do now is just pick yourself up and keep playing and having fun. At least now, you have the new powerful weapons from the onset to give you an edge. Hell, I just went through 2/3s of the campaign in a few hours again. You'll be there in no time. Think positive is what I am saying.

That's funny cause I could have sworn I spent $60 on this game and
another $10 on the content. "At your own risk" assumes that
people know of some sort of danger. Frankly, no one plays a
game thinking "hmm...if I play this here game there might be a bug in
it that causes me to lose all my save data. I guess I'll have to
play at my own risk" That's ridiculous. Mature adults, btw,
don't belittle people by calling them "whiners", especially when their
complaints are legitimate.
PS. I already did send an email to Realtime Worlds and they do
listen to the complaints on the forums. They have agents (pun
intended) whose job it is to do so

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
That doesn't work.
I downloaded the new stuff, played for a little bit and then I turned off thre console.
Then I played with a friend and, BANG! I have to start all over again.
Possible cause, I had the 800 MP DLC and my friend only the Free one. I hosted the game a couple of times, and no problem. Then he hosted the game and that's when we had the problem...
This is really an annoying issue. I wasn't done with the game because I recently had to send my 360 to the SAT. But I was near to "complete" my agent, I had 450 orbs and only 4 bosses left to finish the game...
It's quite frustraiting but I'll star the game again...

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
John, did you play SOLO first, or did you host or join straightaway? The easy fix to this is to play your game on solo BEFORE playing co-op. If you play solo and save your game you should be golden. If your save file got overwritten, there's nothing to be done about it unfortunately. This isn't a fix to restore it, just a preventative to keep your game from getting overwritten in the first place. Jickey, nobody thinks about "playing at their own risk" or "downloading at their own risk" however you did sign an agreement saying that. It was in the Terms and Conditions of using XBox Live and the Marketplace as well as all title updates and DLC content. So, yeah you, me and everyone else already signed something saying that we "use these items at our own risk". Microsoft's lawyers covered their bases there. I know it's not much comfort, though.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
I'm not in the worst position possible as I'd already found all of the orbs. So my achievements are safe. My sympathies to those who not only need to level up but need to find all the orbs again.
However, I was really very happy with my city being orb free and my agent being absolutely maxed out. I'll have to go a long way to get that again, who knows if I'll bother. Or if it matters. Maybe I would have done this in time, but the choice would have been my own and I don't like that this glitch took that choice away from me.
It really rankles, but it's time to be philosophical for me. Time to start building up to a position where I can do the new achievements.

I played solo first, killed a couple of guys from Shai-Gen and turn off my 360. A couple of hours later I played with a friend and that's when my data got overwritten. So I guess that solution doesn't work for everybody. Maybe the problem is when the host has the Free DLC and the guest has the 800 DLC. Because I had the 800 DLC and my friend the free one. And first I hosted the game and nothing happened, but later on, he hosted the game and that's when both our data got overwritten. I know there's nothing to do about it, that's why I started again... Its's a fun game, but having to start again because of a bug, as I said before, it's quite frustrating. I know the patch will fix the problem, not restore the data...

I had 450 orbs and only 4 Shai-Gen members remaining... And the agent almost maxed out... :'(

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
Okay, I was about to return my crackdown and take the $10 hit on the
DLC after this stunt, but I found out I didn't lose my guy on COOP, and
I really only play COOP anyways. So, now I am only disappointed in the developers on
this glitch/bug.
Now what I need answered, by someone that is 100% without a doubt is
this. If I play single player mode, and it saves, will I or won't I
lose the maxed out guy on COOP modes? I want an answer from a good
source, someone that has done it or has links to someone involved with
the development saying this, Agent G, etc
Please help me out if
you know the answer. The last thing I want to do is hit one load screen
in single player and lose my maxed out player in COOP. As I can always
find someone willing to play COOP.

Did you save first, or did you just turn off the 360?
I have a maxed out agent, and 480 orbs. So far my save-gave is OK, but I am staying away from the game untill I know it is absolutely safe to play it again. I don't have time to max out and find all those orbs all over again.

A hard shut-down (turning off the 360) will not save it. It has no time to.
I need someone to play LOTR BFMEII with online...

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
I'm sorry for those guys that lost their progress in this game. I also want to thank Drk Angel for bringing this to the attention of the community so fast. Thanks to him my safe-file is still safe. I spreaded the word through my Xbox360 gaming blog (Dutch) to help ensure as many people as possible know about the bug. So again, Kudos for Drk Angel and for RTW for coming up with a solution as quickly as they did, hopefully the new title-update that fixes all this won't be long either.
In my case I only downloaded the title update, not the free-pack, nor the premium pack. I only played solo-campaign without resetting the gangs. My stats are still intact (master agent, 7 stuntrings to go, 80 hidden orbs and 2 agility orbs, all races done). So that was a relief to say the least. I will however stay away from the download packs and from co-op play, just to be sure, and I advice all other players to do likewise.
PS: pardon my english it's not my native tongue.

I quit the game (saving first), came back to the 360 dashboard and then, I turned off the 360... PS=English is not my native tongue either, so I apologise for any mistake I may have made... :)

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming
Heh , this method worked for me ..... but only half worked .... When I say only half worked ... I have two profiles on my Xbox 360 .... mine and my little brothers' ........ It worked for one profile on my Xbox 360 ... but not the other ...... I downloaded the update today , following carefully these offical steps ...... I downloaded the update with my account .... started a single player game and quit and rebooted ...... I checked my game after the reset and my data was safe thankfully ..... the work around method worked thankfully ..... Now I thought I'd reset and reboot up the game again my little brothers' profile this time , to see if everything is okay ... .... unfortunatly it was not ..... my little brother has to start from stats zero and a fresh game save ..... his previous game save is gone ..... he doesn't know yet .... but he's gonna abit upset of starting over again ..... It seems like this work-around method only works for the profile that downloads the update .... I think any other profile that logs on after it will have their stats cleared ..... so yeah my data was safe ( well for now , who knows what will happen next patch .... ) but my little brother lost his game save on his profile ... I really should have waited until a new patch was released ...... but i just received my points card through the post and couldn't help myself .... lol .... plus i was encouraged by this offical work-around ...... although it seems it didn't take into account other xbox profiles that log on after the patch has been downloaded by the first profile .... oh well .... sucks for my bro ... but i'm sure he'll get over it .... he was only half way through anyway ..... I hope the people fixing the update keeps this in mind when fixing up the next patch ...... keep other profiles on the same box into account too ....
