Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

I am sure they are far more pissed for the mistake they made than you are for being on the receving end of it.

What is done is done, and I bet they're working their asses off to come up with a fix rather than lounging around for the weekend.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Yah I would imagine they are definatly working hard as we speak to find a fix. Im just curious on why MS hasn't removed the content for the time being, people are still going to fall for this and lose their data without checking the internet for these kind of forums.

The Catan demo had some kind of "bug" and it was immediately removed from marketplace until a fix was found, the "bug" must of been devastating for them to act so quickly and remove it... whereas this Crackdown bug isn't a big deal to MS apparently and remains on the marketplace without a fix to it yet.

That's my current grief right now, I'm pretty much over losing my data, I'll play the game when the Halo 3 beta is done and just find everything over again.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Please help, I have downloaded the update and free download pack with no problems, (so far) but I am still struggling to find hidden/agility orbs. I have 495 agility and 201 hidden orbs but can't seem to use the new audio ping feature. It just does'nt seem to work, I have come accross 2 hidden orbs by accident and they just seemed to make the same noise as normal which disappeared as soon as I moved away. Am I being really stupid or has this happened to anyone else? What is it supposed to sound like? Any video links would be helpful.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

I followed the quick fix steps and sure enough my game not only still got messed up, but I went through the game again only to find out that no dossier videos play and I cannot access the second and third district via the agency garage. I guess I have to delete my crackdown save via the 360 interface to fully ensure that I can have a bug-free experience. Which means I will have to go through this game a third time now. I hope these problems get fixed soon and I seriously hope I don't somehow lose my save yet again. At least it's not hard to level quickly if you want to.

You're not qualified to say, with any degree of certainty, who is more pissed about the situation and how anyone can claim to be sure that they are hard at work on anything is beyond me. No one from RTW has posted for nearly two days. Their first attempt at damage control was to assure us they would do everything possible to get a fix out, and then they go into communications blackout? Not even a discussion regarding what their idea of a solution might be??? Somebody might be working on a fix right now, but failing to communicate what is being done to correct this is inexcusable. Even refunding our MS points doesn't go far enough to fix this cluster $%&#. Amateurs, all the way.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

The fact that this bug made it out at all is inexcusable... This is the type of thing that should have been found within an hour of play testing, its that OBVIOUS!

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

Man I honestly think they didn't test these updates, or put them through certification.

-Deleted my save file, and a lot of other gamers save file as well!
-Takes forever to sign into the game.
-Asks me to sign in, while already being signed in.
-You can only spawn 50 barrels instead of 100.
-Where is the toggle gangs on/off???
-Displays the odds of taking out a kingpin on the side of the screen and cuts off most the text so you can't read it.
-And why does the director talk so much in the game. I don't consider walking up a flight of stairs an impresive ascent so shut up, talk only when helpful please.

God help us and RTW if there are other bugs we don't know about. Sigh.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

I have a much more severe problem.

I downloaded the Free-For-All pack when I heard it was out. Then is started up Crackdown, got the update, played for awhile. All is well. I've turned it on and off plenty of times and did not lose my save file.

Later I decided I wanted the paid expansion. So I run to one of the new mission circles and I stand in it. It says I cannot start this without the new DLC etc. So I stand there, prompt the dowload, pay for it and DL the paid expansion. It asks me to activate the new content, which I do, ending my current session and rebooting the game. Then the game tries to load up. Now it freezes during the opening sequence, when RenderWare is on the screen. There is no way around it, I've tried everything for a long time.

So now I can't play Crackdown, and also can't get or play the Halo 3 Beta if it isn't fixed by the 16th. Also I just paid for something I can't use. Wonderful.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

I sent an email here enquiries@realtimeworlds.com friday night. I don't expect a reply ever, but at least I have proof. I'm tying to find the right email addy to contact someone @ MS that can actually do something.

I'd encourage everyone that had an issue to email, call RTW @ 303 530 0531 if you are US. UK is : 1382 202821.

FYI I had finished the ENTIRE game and ALL the achievements minus 3 or 4 Hidden Orbs. This is the first game on the 360 that I spent any amount of time trying to complete all achievements. I had fricken maps out and had blocked off areas of completion trying to find all the orbs and everything. What a disappointment.

When I stopped playing the game I had this great opinion of RTW and Crackdown. Now after my game was reset, I have this bad taste in my mouth. I'd say stay away from any RTW games. That sucks because APB looks like a pretty cool game.

Re: Crackdown DLC - Official Steps to Trouble Free Gaming

This has been said many, many times now but appearantly it hasn't been stated enough.  I'll make it clear for you.

THIS WORKAROUND WILL NOT FIX AN ERASED SAVE!!!  It is not intended to restore your save.  The workaround is to prevent your file from being overwritten in the first place!

The workaround certainly does indeed work.  If your file is already erased, that's it.  There's no going back.  This workaround is intended to be done so your save file doesn't get re-written.  If you played co-op first and got the glitch, it's already too late.

For those calling RTW "amateurs", let me play YOUR game first so I can make a comparison.  Oh, you haven't created a game?  You don't know anything about coding games?  Then you certainly have no right calling them amateurs.  RTW may be a new company, but most of these people have come from long-standing games.  For Christ's sake, they created the GTA series!!

Now would you rather RTW be sitting around, chatting with us on the forums or would you rather them be working on a patch?  Hmm?  Okay then, give them some slack for not talking with us right now.  They're busy as hell.  As for them "sitting around and doing nothing", what the hell do you people think they're doing?!  They were on this glitch the SECOND they found out about it.  Now, if this were three weeks later and we'd just now heard about a workaround or a patch, that'd be different.  Within the first hour or two of the glitch being discovered, they were able to create a workaround for us.  You don't think that's hard work and dedication?  If you barrage them with emails and telephone calls, then you're taking their time... time that they could be working on a patch.

Mistakes happen, glitches slip by.  Yes, this one is a difficult one but it does not render Crackdown broken.  The game works fine, and is in fact, better with the new DLC.  You had fun playing it once, right?  You can have fun playing it again.

I had ALL my *** reset, hell read the first post of this thread.  I was one of the first, if not THE first person to discover this problem.  If I can deal with it, so can you.  Demanding money for FREE content is pretty sad.  Instead of looking like someone with a problem, you look like someone who's greedy and only looking to get something for nothing.  Take a note from the game's ESRB rating.  If you're old enough to purchase the game, you should be mature enough to handle the fact that *** HAPPENS!  Some of you people make me embarrassed to mention that I'm a part of the XBox Community.

If you have NEVER made a mistake, or had an accident, then feel free to belittle RTW.  But if you have...

Too true mate, too true.  Surely this is in the first set of tests they do when releasing a title update!  If not, why the hell not?  The fact that it has happened to so many people (myself included) surely goes to show you that is a very common set of steps we went through .

     IE-

    load game,

    Join co-op game,

    Exit co-op game,

Make a new game (single player or multiplayer).

Its seems to me they never tested what happens to "player 2" after they leave a friends (co-op) game.

Don't dis player 2 RTW i know its "Super Mario Bros" not Super Luigi Bros" but player 2 is just as important you know, and should have equal rights in testland.

RTW  - Great game, I love it, slightly upset that i lost my game save but i can live with it, very very disappointed in your testing!  OR, should i focus my disappointment at MS certification process? You tell me.
