Crackdown

So i have been playing crackdown for a while and love the gameplay. This game reminds me of a game that was on xbox that had the same idea/engine. I cant remember exactly what the game was and im hoping someone can help me. It was on original xbox and had the exact same thing to get a car from the headquarters. Sept i remember this game had a few more cars and they werent police cars parsay. Id like to know if anyone knows what other games used the engine/design of crackdown and have the concept of the main headquarters. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same idea/engine? Crackdown is using an engine called RenderWare. There is a list on Wikipedia with some games using this engine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RenderWare.

About the idea, is it a GTA type of game? Does it take place in an open world? Can you use weapons and driving vehicles? What game play mechanisms is similar/same except from the headquarters thing? I actually started a website (www.gtaclone.com) about GTA type games, aka GTA clones. If this is such a game, there is a big chance it's listed on my site :)

There's no other game (to me) that's like Crackdown.

I had high hopes for a few tho:
GTA IV was a fun game, but no LIVE co-op, so it didn't feel the same
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames had some good co-op, but it was super glitchy over LIVE
Saint's Row 2 probably came as close to be "as fun" as Crackdown, but still didn't quite match it
Prototype looked like it would be the game to match it, but then they took out co-op, so forget that for my $
Just Cause 2 has a huge world and looks fun, but no co-op, so  won't be picking that up
Red Faction: Guerrilla has some awesome looking gameplay which reminded me of Crackdown alot, but again, no co-op

So, it looks like alot of games come close in some areas, but miss it in others and no game since Crackdown has had the full package like it does. Therefore, we are at the mercy of Realtime Worlds to finish up APC and get to work on Crackdown 2 if we want an experience that will be as good as the 1st.

If you want games that come close tho, try any / all from the above list. GTA IV, Saints Row 2 and Mercs. 2 should be cheap by now (and I own them if you want to play on LIVE; Lanhoj). The other 3 are scheduled for '09 releases.

MJTheOne: Basically, yeah. Simply because those 3 games listed that aren't release yet, have no co-op, and that being a key element to Crackdown means they won't give people a similar experience. They will probably be fun in their own right, but be like Crackdown without co-op? No way.

I will still probably buy 2 or 3 of those last 3 listed because I'm a sucker for open-world sandbox style games, but just to keep me busy in that genre until Crackdown 2 comes out.
